Terms & Conditions
These terms and conditions set out the basis upon which goods or services are supplied by Pearsons of Duns Limited t/a Solid Fuel Hub.
General
In these Conditions of Sale:
- The Company means Pearsons of Duns Limited t/a Solid Fuel Hub. Registered Address: Cheeklaw Centre, Station Road, Duns, TD11 3EL
- The Customer means any person contracting with the Company for the supply of goods or services.
- Delivery means delivery by the company or any subcontractor employed by the Company directly or indirectly.
- Submission of an order will be taken as agreement to these Terms and Conditions.
Contract
- The Company Terms and Conditions shall apply and be incorporated into all Contracts for the purchase of Goods made via this website. Please read these terms and conditions carefully before placing an Order.
- Capitalised expressions used on this page shall bear the meaning set out in the Terms and Conditions unless the context requires otherwise.
- The provisions below in respect of Orders, Delivery and Returns are extra, more specific provisions in respect of purchases of Goods made via this website and are incorporated into the Terms and Conditions.
- In the case of conflict these provisions will be the ones to apply to your Contract, so please also read these sections carefully before placing your Order.
- The Privacy Policy shall apply generally to your use of the website. Copies of both the Pearsons of Duns Limited Terms and Conditions and the Privacy Policy are available for download below.
Supply of Goods & Ordering
- Contracts for the supply of goods or services to retail or domestic customers are governed by The Sales of Goods Act 1979 (as amended) and supplied in accordance with The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 (CCICAR). Any customers contracting in the course of their business are excluded from the consumer protection legislation and are contracting with the Company on a business to business basis.
- The Price stated on the website includes the costs and charges of delivery of the Goods.
- An additional delivery surcharge will be applied if you reside in the Highlands & Islands post code or any other hard to reach areas to cover the higher operating costs of the pallet network in delivering to these areas.
- Prices shown include any applicable UK VAT and are in British Pounds Sterling (GBP).
- All payments are to be made in advance of delivery/service by debit or credit card at the time of ordering
- When ordering solid fuel, the Customer must ensure that they have selected a solid fuel which is authorised for use in their area. Traditional House Coal is not for use in Smoke Controlled Areas. The Customer is made fully aware that it is their responsibility to know if they are in a Smoke Controlled Area. The Company accepts no responsibility for customers burning the wrong solid fuel.
Delivery
- Standard delivery is 2-5 working days, unless otherwise stated within the product description. Delivery times can increase during busy periods. We will do our best to keep you updated with texts / emails informing you of your delivery progress.
- If we do not deliver within the 5 working day period you can give us a new deadline for delivery, which must be reasonable, and you can cancel your Order if we do not meet the new deadline.
- Deliveries are made Monday to Friday between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00p.m. We do not offer specific delivery times or dates.
- We can deliver to most properties in England, Scotland and Wales. Where we do not normally deliver to your area, you will be notified and given a full refund.
- You should notify us at the time of the Order of any vehicle access restrictions or issues that may prevent us from safely delivering your Order. A charge may be made to you for non-delivery or re-delivery of your order.
- Delivery by the company shall be conditional upon access being flat, free from encumbrances and good roads being available to the company’s vehicles to the place of delivery
- The company will not accept any liability for damages to property caused during delivery.
- Any additional charges incurred during delivery (i.e. parking charges, etc) will be at the liability of the customer
- Delivery vehicles use tail lift offloading, and it must be emphasised that the delivery vehicle must be able to park in the area where the delivery is to be made. A pallet truck is then used to manoeuvre the goods off the tail lift to the kerbside delivery point. The customer, or somebody appointed by the customer, should be at the delivery point to accept the delivery.
- All deliveries will be made in an 18 tonne ridged vehicle unless a smaller 7.5 tonne vehicle is specified by the Customer.
- The goods will be palletised and shrink wrapped.
- Any shortfall in the quantity delivered, or damages to the product, must be written on the delivery note at the time of delivery. When signing for the goods you are agreeing they have been received in full and in good order. We cannot offer any refunds or replacements without this. It is at your own risk if you are not at the property to receive and check the goods.
- If any of the products arrives damaged, we ask that the customer emails photographs in as soon as possible after the delivery to hello@solidfuelhub.co.uk
- Please note: If we are required to make a re-delivery due to withheld information regarding access to the shipping address, the customer will incur another charge for re-delivery.
- If the third-party pallet network company arrives at the location and deems it unsafe or impossible to complete the delivery due to withheld information, the customer will receive a refund minus the delivery charge.
- The Company will not be liable if delayed or prevented from performing its obligations due to event of Force Majeure.
- Our aim is to follow any delivery instructions supplied at the time of placing the Order. However, our delivery service (for all Orders) is to kerbside only. Delivery to anywhere else on the property is at the discretion of the driver making the delivery. The delivery drivers are only contracted to deliver the goods kerbside.
- Saturday delivery before noon may be requested, though cannot be guaranteed and may be subject to an additional charge.
- Some local authorities may prosecute if an obstruction is not cleared. Solidfuelhub.co.uk and its agents will accept no responsibility for any obstruction.
- If you have any concerns over the delivery you must contact the Company by 2pm the day before the scheduled delivery.
Returns
- If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 14 days of delivery for a refund. Goods should be returned in original packaging and condition. This will be at your expense and risk.
- If you are unable to return the goods, Solid Fuel Hub in this scenario will collect said goods costing you up to £80.00. You will receive your refund less any delivery charges which have been incurred.
Cancellation
- The Customer has the right to cancel the goods or services under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations (CCICAR). Any cancellation must be made within 14 days from the date of the order being placed.
- Cancellation needs to be done in a clear statement from the Customer, setting out the decision to cancel the contract. We recommend doing this in writing to one of the following:
- a. Email to hello@solidfuelhub.co.uk
- b. Letter to Pearsons of Duns Limited t/a Solid Fuel Hub, The Cheeklaw Centre, Station Road, Duns, TD11 3EL.
- The Customer is required to return the goods at their own expense to Pearsons of Duns Limited t/a Solid Fuel Hub, The Cheeklaw Centre, Station Road, Duns, TD11 3EL without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days after cancellation.
- If you are unable to return the goods, Solid Fuel Hub in this scenario will collect said goods costing you up to £80.00. You will receive your refund less any delivery charges which have been incurred.
- If you cancel your Order we will refund in full, less any delivery charges which have been incurred.
Refunds
- a) within 14 days of the day we receive back from you any Goods supplied, or
- b) If there were no Goods supplied, within 14 days from when we are informed about your decision to cancel.
- Goods should be returned in original packaging and condition. This will be at your expense and risk.
- If you are unable to return the goods, Solid Fuel Hub in this scenario will collect said goods costing you up to £70. You will receive your refund less any delivery charges which have been incurred.
- We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss of value of any Goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
- We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment that you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.

Informational pages presented on our website are provided with good intent. Please be aware that whilst all claims are made to the best of our knowledge, some may be unsubstantiated. Complaints

The Company requires any complaint to be made in writing by the Customer within a reasonable time after delivery. If the Customer is dissatisfied with the goods then it must be returned to the Company within 14 working days after the complaint being logged.
Miscellaneous
- Orders received for Goods not authorised for use in smoke control areas are subject to your responsibilities in understanding and complying with the Clean Air Act.
- All Goods are subject to availability.
- All sizes are approximate, unless sold by weight.
- All accessories shown are not included unless otherwise stated.
- Packaging may vary to that shown.
- Pearsons of Duns Limited reserves the right to amend prices or withdraw Goods without prior notice, prior to the Contract being entered into.
Statutory Rights
- This does not affect your statutory rights.
