Bank Holidays and Half term, what better way to enjoy the holidays than breaking out the BBQ to kick-back and relax with family and friends.
Which Fuel?
And if you are looking to cook up a tasty treat or two then make sure it is a charcoal barbecue for that extra flavour.
Using the right fuel is important so get ahead and make sure you have your charcoal in stock and ready to go. Nothing worse than the last minute dash to the garage to buy a random broken bag of charcoal. Lumpwood Charcoal is probably best if you are looking to lock in that added flavour.

When to start cooking?
Don't forget to start cooking at the right time......Flame grilled is good but for cooking the majority of items wait a little while for the flames to die down and the charcoal to take on a white hot glow. Patience is the name of the game here!
What to cook?
Now that you are set up get those burgers and sausages on the barby but why not also try fish, vegetables or a marinade or two. Find some of our favourite recipes here
BBQ Safety
Finally, don't forget your barbecue safety:
- Never leave the barbecue unattended
- Ensure it is on a flat, stable surface
- Arrange your cooking area well away from your tent, building, trees or shed
- Follow your barbecue manufacturer's instructions to light it up safely
- Keep children and animals away from the barbecue whilst it is hot
- Use long handled tools and protective mitts or gloves to avoid burns
- Never take a barbecue inside your house, tent or other confined space to keep you warm
- Even if the barbecue looks like it is dead, it should remain outside as it will still give off fumes for some hours after use.
- Ensure the barbecue is completely cold before moving or storing it away
- Ensure that there is an adequate supply of fresh air in the area where the barbecue is being used.
- Always use your barbecue equipment in accordance with the operating instructions.
- Be Carbon Monoxide aware - The risks of ignoring BBQ safety are real and can have devastating consequences.
- Be aware of the risk of grass fires especially in dry, hot weather
